I cried to my Lord “What is the meaning of life?
Why sometimes prosperity?
Why sometimes strife?”
And a small quiet voice,
As calm as can be,
Whispered in my ear,
“trust in me”.

“Why in the midst of pleasure
Am I oft wracked with pain?
Why in the midst of sunshine
Does it often pour rain?”
And a small quiet voice,
Still calm as could be,
Whispered a little louder,
“trust in me”.

“Why does the sinner sometimes seem blessed?
While the good sometimes suffer,
And seemingly in vain seek rest?”
And a small quiet voice,
As patient as can be,
Repeated yet again,
“trust in me”.

And then I understood just a little,
That with all its trouble and strife,
This world is not Heaven,
This world is not Life.

This world is a teacher,
For those who will learn.
For the trust that is true ,
Is the trust that you earn.

And steadfast is the knot
Of a love bound and tied,
By cords that endure,
Tested and tried.

For life’s not about this world,
But about Heaven above.
About faith and trust.
About unity and love.

About a God and His people,
Eternally living as one.
A Father and His children,
Born of His only begotten Son.

“My Lord I cried,
Help me overcome this world of men,
For in You alone will I trust,
Forever,
Amen.
