HOW TO TELL MY CHILDREN OF MY NEW LOVE

I’ve spent time alone.
I don’t want that any more.
I tried internet dating,
even though I didn’t know the score.

I was lucky right away.
Almost immediately I found a good man.
But how to explain to the children?
I don’t know that  I can.

I don’t want them to think
that I’ve forgotten their father.
I really want them to understand
that we’ll always be together.

But amazing as it may seem,
love has found me twice.
I want them all to see
that this new man is awfully nice.

I want them to accept him
as the man who’ll be with me
until the day my heart stops
and my eyes no longer see.

I want them to trust him
and know I’m safe in his care,
and realize that between he and I,
there’s no burden we can’t bare.

I want them to be glad
that he helps me fill my days,
that he makes me happy
In all the important ways.

I want them to be happy
 that my nights are filled
with the peace and the contentment,
our passion has instilled.

It’s important for them to know
he takes nothing from me
but gives to me all his love.
He’s completely selfless, don’t you see?

I don’t have the words
to ease all their fears.
I’ll show them by my actions
that they should shed no tears.

My children, open your eyes
to the happiness he’s brought your mother.
See how often I laugh with him,
more than I have with any other.

This is a wonderful outpouring of feeling. Maybe you could show them this poem? I think your happiness comes through beautifully here, so no doubt your children can see the difference in you already. How many folks get a second (or even first) chance at love? Thank you for sharing this poem:)

I think I'm that man and it almost makes me blush to read these comments. That's a lot for a man to live up to. Is it possible you have me mixed up with someone else? Love ya Baby. Dick

If he is a good man, they will accept him. If he is Godly they will accept him too.
