A Rose

She smiles sensuously

Eyes wrinkling with her age

Winter flirts about her stance

How so her hair has grayed!

 

In a fair and gallant stride

She greets the world anew

And dances before heaven

Like an angel before you

 

She drew in sentiments

In trance before her eyes

With a heart so passion-fed

That time can’t pass her by

 

Now memories’ all she has

Within a heart and soul

As goodness tends to last

When youth and beauty go

 

Yet a girl, she remains

Happy and unafraid

As a rose remains a rose

By any other shade.

Love this- so much truth and meaning, and you pulled it off without over-writing as some might do-there is such a gift in that kind of spot-on writing.
