Where the Lilies Grow
Up upon the mountain top is where I love to be
Up where life is full of contentment and all is trouble free.
When the inevitable tribulations come and I descend into
a valley, with him I have the power to stand.
Remembering 'tis God's promise to me that nothing nor
anyone will be able to pluck me out of his hand.
On the day I find myself feeling in solitude down in the
lowest valley where the springs of water flow,
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh
my help, My help cometh from the Lord," This assurance
I know.
On top of the mountain I have joy unspeakable as I find
myself at my very best.
But when in the valley I can still count it all joy for God said
I will be able to withstand any test.
I will not remain on the mountaintop; on that pinnacle I
cannot forever reside.
As I travel down into the valley, I have the promise that
there with me he will also faithfully abide.
Preferring the mountaintop where the refreshing breezes blow,
I must ne'er forget, 'tis in the valley where the lilies grow.
