Aspirations
When I’m grown up I aim to be
Someone who has a mind that’s free
Free to think and free to learn
No church’s approval I need to earn
I shall not be the one to frown
I have had enough of feeling down
Pain and distress, a young life in bed
Taught me a lot, it’s in my head
Things I couldn’t learn from a book
I wouldn’t know even where to look
Knowledge deep, and within I see
The strengths and weaknesses of me
No one else has need to know
But by my behaviour, I hope to show
Life is just a battle to win through
What matters is only what you do
Not what you know, how bright the star
Just the sort of person that you are
If you aspire to higher things
More responsibility with it brings
But kindness is for me the best
More important than all the rest
No one needs to spend a dime
This is free to access any time
Intelligence, status play no part
Because
Kindness is found within the heart
