Trailing Arbutus is a protected and rare wild flower in Michigan. I've found two lovely patches on my own little piece of heaven in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Yes, my fingers are in the photo, but NOT picking the flowers, just giving some scale to their size. The flowers inspired the following Haiku.

I don't know of the Arbutus, but I often think of Trillium that carpeted the forest floor in my childhood in northern Wisconsin. I wonder if they are still so common in spring.
