I rounded the corner and saw him there, head and shoulders above all others. Not due to his height, but the pedestal he still sat upon, which I had placed him. He did not tear his gaze away as expected, but looked directly into my face.
Mirrored in his eyes was everything he had glimpsed, whilst dabbling through my soul. Each thought a prayer…each act a deed…every day a celebration.
And in that moment I knew the purpose of discernment; through experience of what was of true value and what was false, and the acceptance of personal responsibility-
Jill, in my opinion, I think this piece is a little too "wordy". I found myself tripping over certain lines and having to go back and read them twice or three times to understand their meaning. I'd also re-think your word choice in a few of your lines. Rule of thumb is: Select just the right word in just the right place.
