Summer recedes on the breath of autumn falling from grace of the suns malevolent brilliance's mother nature darns her night cap and ties the bow in ruffles and lace of colored leaves and foliage she has sloshed dead skin in the storms of her fall baths using pine cones, now discarded on the ground putting on her dressing gown of many colors so soft of hues, decorated with red and purple berries Her mate father time calls to her to come slumber take rest beside me my beloved and be renewed in winter lifting the covers of time he enfolds her, for safe keeping she being the submissive comes to his welcoming embrace only making one request before her weary summer eyes close that the son jack frost be waken to complete his task before winters Ices blast
I know that poetry can mean different things to different people. As I read this poem about summer turning to Autumn, I can equate it with life's changes. To me, the coming of Autumn signifies changes and new experiences. I love the way you described autumn as her "dressing gown of many colors." Stop into my den sometime!
Cheryl, what a wonderful place to be in Autumn, under the covers of time. If I possessed the covers of time, I would place my Lady under them and her enchantment would keep her there with me forever. Loved this sweet and gentle poem. Bill Murray
