Depression is defined as a hole
Mentally it's us withdrawing
It is a fear of losing control
That fear is always gnawing
And so we retreat inside
In no one do we confide
The nightmares keep recurring
Daydreams are long forgotten
True memories are also blurring
Everything around us is rotten
We are silently asking for aid
But friends we've left behind
The bed is always left unmade
To a life of misery we're resigned
We stumble through each day
Finally some one observes
Our life has gone far astray
That we're on our last reserves
They help us to seek care
Some one to listen to our plight
Someone with whom to share
A person who calms the fright
With help we learn to manage
To overcome those daily fears
We learn to take advantage
As the depression disappears
We see the world around us
And life is no longer a drain
Now our feelings we do express
Life is worth living again
