The strange case of Mrs. Frobisher's Demon. Semi-humorous, but this is a true story.

Well no, I don’t really know

how it got there.

The demon, that is.

I just woke up on the sofa

after my husband had

gone to bed,

and there it was,

sitting in my husband’s recliner chair,

resting it’s clawed hands on

the arm rests,

seemingly watching TV.

I thought,

that’s not my husband!

It was bright pink, naked

from what I could see of it.

It had a bald head,

pointed ears, and

two small horns.

It had a human face, but very

wide-eyed and angry-looking,

with a flat, upturned nose like the

porcine snout

of a pig, or warthog.

It had two small tusks

protruding upwards

from its lower lip.

Well, as you can imagine,

I immediately thought I was dreaming.

I blinked a few times;

looked again,

but it was still there.

It didn’t turn to look at me

or speak my name,

I was jolly well glad of that,

I can tell you.

I closed my eyes and

counted to ten,

then opened them again.

Finally, the demon was gone.

No, thankfully, after that night,

it never did make another appearance.

I’m fairly convinced that

I’ve seen the last of it now.

But, just in case,

I’m never buying that

cheap Hungarian sherry,

ever again.

Ah ha, the sherry did it! I believe that's why Irish whiskey makes Irish writers see so many leprechauns, fairies and such.
