A fascination with books.

In eager anticipation I turn the page.
What words of knowledge await me here.
The pages of the tome are yellowed with age.

On some day long past this was penned by a sage.
The written words bring the author near.
in eager anticipation I turn the page.

The author's mood I can clearly gauge.
In this treasured book I hold so dear.
The pages of the tome are yellowed with age.

In mellowed mood or high with rage.
Again and again the words of wisdom I hear.
In eager anticipation I turn the page.

A constant battle with time I wage.
I cannot put it down I fear.
The pages of the tome are yellowed with age.

Whether it be rhymes or prose or obscure adage.
The written empathy I clearly hear.
In eager anticipation I turn the page.
The pages of the tome are yellowed with age.

The mind, the page, the author. A magic combination which you enjoy revealling down under. Beautiful poem. I fully understand why you left the UK. Here in Dumfries its -8 this evening and I have still to walk the dog. To make matters worse, my 24year old daughter has just returned from Oz and its heat. Why don't you send Billy Connolly back home and send me out instead!!!!
Best wishes

Love it. I've had a love affair with books since I could hold one in my hands. Well done.

I love books, Tricia! Especially old, hard cover books. Yes the ones yellowed with age. They don't make them like they used to. Thanks for sharing...

Giving Myself 'A' Reason For Going On by RickthePoetWarrior

A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
