l asked the lord in prayer
why people are homeless
and begging for food
i thought gods goodness
was for everyone

and the good lord
said to me
the poorest of the poor
count on you and me
to be their voice hands and feet

and when we give
until it hurts
to those in need
the poorest of the poor
will be no more

the day will come
everyone will have
food shelter and medical care
when we share with our brothers
and sisters homeless
on our streets

the lord then opened
heavens doors
and angels appeared
tenderly touching
the hearts of you and me
to dry the tears of the poor
all over earths shores

and thus the lord
said to me
the homeless
will no longer be
when we share
with those in need
