lonesome slumber.

by Bethany Peterson — Read all 39 poems by Bethany Peterson

I wrote this with the ocean in mind and perhaps a hint of sadness.

Friday, October 18, 2019

Drifting out to sea, as the waves turn their head solemnly away from me. As if to say farewell.
Saltwater greets my lifeless face.
And yet, I begin to drown in lonesome slumber.

His Grace

I think you have something more in mind than the ocean. We often speak of "drowning in sorrow." I believe that is what is going on. No one wants to be lonely.

An excellent poem. But it leaves me begging for more.
Welcome to the club, Bethany. I hope you enjoy your time here. I think you will fit in very well. With that smile, how could you not?
