Poetry
· deep breaths.

· apathy takes me.

· long drives.

· nothing more.

· ode to growth.

· living in a dream.

· indecisive.

· that afternoon.

· art.

· music melts.

sea of blue.

by Bethany Peterson — Read all 39 poems by Bethany Peterson

Recognizing linear patterns has become far too common than I'd like to admit.

Saturday, October 19, 2019

lines like the violet
that streak through the mountains
are the same,
as the seemingly liquid mirages
that reflect the pale blue sky.
lines of cacti copy,
in rows and endless isles.
they all take their place
and fade away.
but they serve a purpose
momentary pain,
against the sea of blue.

You have an interesting way of drawing upon the images and symbols of nature to inspire your work and the reader as well. Excellent.

Very philosophical. Metaphorical as well. Perhaps that is what is going on with the, "momentary pain," like being stung by the thorn of a cactus. I was confused with one line until I realized that you are writing about aisles rather than isles. Unless you really meant islands in the mirage of blue. Blue being a melancholy thought.
