I keep it locked in my mouth,
prolonging the inevitable swallow.
I don’t swish the poison between my teeth,
they’re already stained.
crimson red bleeds.
and when I finally let it pass,
it unforgivably goes down,
down,
down,
to the depths of my insides.
where it rests for an hour or two or three.
until the liquid makes its way to my mind,
and begrudgingly brings a storm cloud.
now all I see is grey.
