I found it!

by Debra (DM) Kraft — Read all 67 poems by Debra (DM) Kraft

I have been out, a-wandering;
dreaming dreams yet writing naught.
Today, I thought I'd wander in
and share a touch of things I've thought...

“I found it!”

The giggle of a little girl,
light and bright and unafraid,
pierced the thick, unyielding air.

I welcomed it,
               like cooling shade.

I let it soothe my anxious thoughts,
              envelope me in better days.

I met her gaze and matched her smile,
              encouraged her with eager praise.

She laughed full out, then turned away
and left me there, alone again….

Had I her faith, I’d be as brave.

Had I her youth, I might pretend.

Another profound and poignant write. You've left me teary eyed.

Awwwww so very sweet! Well, you do need faith to be brave, but you do not need youth to pretend. Enjoyed.

Be safe,
Karen

I like this...and with youth it is easier to pretend about what you don't know for sure. well said. Lady J

Excellent write. It had a natural beat and a very poignant thought behind it. You should write more.
