The Key

A little girl in hand-me-downs who needed to believe

that life is more than getting by and fighting to achieve

anything and everything to stand up proud and tall --

She looked -- and found -- an answer past the writings on the wall.

She held the key to everything that was and ever will

and carried it like precious gold to the kingdom on the hill.

The patriarch and matriarch, the king and queen of all --

They took the key

and locked the girl in more confining walls.

fascinating write--and thought provoking as we cheer for this girl then are shocked by her final imprisonment
