Remembering a long forgotten face

There was a time, O love!!
Everyday did your face soothe my eyes,
And every morning your smile calmed my heart,
Alas! Those joyful days of my past.

I was restless, always in a hurry to kiss your lips,
But seldom did I smell your lovely hair,
I wanted to have you within my arms,
But seldom did ponder over your face, sweet and fair.

The sun has now set on my life, O lovely!!
The sea waves have thrashed me to the shore,
Only the moon on a clear night sky,
Reminds me of the times that are no more.

The day I left you forever,I still regret,
That memory of the last golden autumn still pains my heart,
Only if I had loved you like myself,
Only if I was not so very smart.

(But) Your face is still like the eternal moon,
Covered by the cruel clouds of time,
Your love is still like the northern wind,
It lingers on my good luck chimes.

I won't let go of you,lovely,
Your face in my dreams i shall see,
For in the fathomless depths of love,
It's only you and me.

Sometimes we let the special ones go. All we have left are their memories and regret.

Beautiful and touching.

The root of suffering is attachment. To lose someone you love alters your life forever. The pain eventually stops, there are new people, but the gap never fully closes. This hole in your heart is the shape of the one you lost. No one else can fit it. Your poem generates empathy because most have lost someone that refuses to leave their heart. Peace to you... rlc
