We have all seen, in our dreams, footsteps
Leading our visions in sand or dust
Toward a distant golden horizon
And felt the glory of the power of His Son,
Always knowing His strength was enough,
Forever carrying our burdens with His love.
And impressed upon the ground His Love
Was found, stride after stride, in single footsteps,
Bearing us up with a love enough
To carry us as a burden less than dust,
All borne upon the shoulders of the Son,
Walking toward a distant golden horizon.
Then in our visions we look to that horizon,
Lit with an unending love
Glowing with creation and the gift of His Son…
And still the track continues of footsteps
Striding through the sand and the dust
Reminding our hearts that our pain can never be enough…
Showing our souls no hurt will ever be enough
To turn Him from His journey toward that horizon,
To cause Him to kneel wearily in the dust
For His strength is in His glory and found in His love,
And we will always find the same footsteps
Strong, stained by the gift of the Son…
Lift by scourged arms, held by nailed hands of His Son,
We will see in the power and glory there is enough
For the stride and strength of those wide footsteps
To lead us all toward that shining distant horizon
That holds the rewards of our own love
For the man, the God, moving through times sands and dust.
I remember the time I saw in the sand, the dust
My own steps, sliding heavy near those of the Son,
I remember when I thought I was alone, then, without His comforting love…
But then I saw the steps were strong and firm, and that was enough
To lift my heart and relieve my fears gazing to my coming horizon
And to see He again was carrying me above His glorious footsteps.
…I feel so near now as I try to fill His footsteps, to walk the path of God’s Son,
Yet still in the sand and dust I see His stride is enough
To carry me to the nearing horizon, where I am taken with love.

This is a God-inspired poem and a legacy to us all here at Authors Den,
it reminded me of Job's words: "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my flesh has been destroyed, yet IN MY SOUL I WILL SEE GOD." (Job 19:25)
