CHRISTMAS ALONE

by Miller H Caldwell — Read all 115 poems by Miller H Caldwell

I wish you a Merry Christmas

Monday, December 15, 2008

CHRISTMAS ALONE

This Yuletide I think I’ll sleep.
After all it’s mid winter.
Dreams under a duvet
will avoid the memories,
memories I find hard to keep

The crash was unexpected
No, if only it was an economic one.
She was an innocent on the pavement
The van driver was drunk, I need say no more
She was my wife, much loved and respected

Family live far away, though I was invited
I declined this year but maybe not next.
Grief has its time of passage
The passage is so slow
I just can’t get excited

Cards lie in a pile on the table
Sentiments are mixed
Hopeful comments and sorry, so very sorry.
I’d put them up
If only I was able.

Sometimes I feel like a sad song
All alone without you
John Denver said it all.
His melancholic music suits me
I might just sing along.

I wish you could know how much I miss you
I wish you could know how much I love you.

An very expressively written poem about such a sad series of events. We pray for the family and friends left behind.

God bless,

My God I am so very sorry this happened. How difficult this time of year can be for so many. In my thoughts and prayers as you journey through this most difficult time...

Be always safe,
Karen

May God you give you strength,,when one's world is changed in an instant it is hard to imagine the pain endured..one breath,,,my heart goes out to you.

Grief if overwhelming when we lose a loved one but to lose one because of a drunk driver must be devastating. My heart goes out to you even though I don't know you. I hope you will go be with people who care. Now is not a good time to be alone. She would want for you to be happy. Be with friends and family and celebrate the birth of Our Lord with whom your beloved wife now resides. You've written a beautiful poem that is a lasting tribute to her memory.
Peace be with you,
Marcia

You have to get postivite and make it through. I lost Tom in07 in Aug and got through that first Christmas. So you must also do as so many of us author's on the den do. Look to celebrate the way she would of wanted you to go on with life. My 2nd Christmas alone with out my Tom is much easier and I am more excited. He would of wished it to be that way. Grief takes time, and I take all the time I wish but it does get a little easier as time goes by. Stay in there and keep looking at positive things now again.
