A WALK
One foot passes another. I’m alive!
But why? Am I the daily postman
covering every step again each day?
The dog walker at night or first thing
Each morning, stopping at each lamp post
Am I walking to work, now that Spring is here
Or on holiday walking, not sitting for a change.
Are my steps leisurely, breathing in the atmosphere
Or hurried to get there on time.
Are my steps descending down the stairs
Or ascending up once more?
Are they impatient or short, decisive or vague
Today they are.
The earthquake was expected but nobody left.
Our village is in mourning, our homes broken shells
So we walk, unsteady and aimless
Aware of your prayers, asking ‘Why?’ to God but knowing
Life will never be the same again
The scar is on Italy this time.
Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Floods, Typhoons, Hurricanes
What is left, is the need to be alone, and walk.

This is a moving poem, and one with which I easily relate.
I have found that walking really helps me to get a clear view of a situation when I am faced with a challenge.Sure, there are other things we can do,but walking provides a peace that is hard to find in other exercises.
Thank you for reminding me,in such a beautiful way, of walking's benefits.
Continued success
