I like the view from my window at work
From the 21^st floor
The view makes me love my work and my city even more.
This list I am compiling to remind myself
That there are wonderful things in life
When I read my poetry it is if complaining is all I do
I love the satin soft feel of my lover’s skin
I love the way she glows by candle light
My paycheck always brings me a grin or two
My daughter and my family
Wherever they are is where I want to be
Horse sweat smells great to me
Stroking the side of a horse’s nose
Is a great feeling, too
Steak and eggs on Sunday morning and a bottle of Merlot
The smell of fresh brewed coffee and a splash of heavy cream
The way a ray of sunlight refracts through a tiny drop of dew
Wildflowers in the Texas hills
The coolness of the Frio River
Folksy Texas music especially after a beer with you
Being home during a hurricane and enduring raging winds
Every time I have correspondence with one of my old friends
The sight of a classic car
The smell of a cold dark bar
Playing “hookie” never gets old
Never doing what I’m told
A Mexican sunset and a silver shore
Sleeping with you on the floor
Admiring your important work
Not really caring that I’m a jerk
Trying to figure the meaning of life
Knowing it’s not the law that makes you my wife
Having you firmly by my side
With your arms around me as I have cried
Not being alone to have to see my whole life through
Seems like the best part of my life is you
