Tears of Triumph

Determinstion to succeed can sometimes be painful.

 


 


Tears of Triumph


Body aches from over extension
Repetition without remorse
Moments of apprehension
To be the best is not enough
Self discipline a must
Winning is the only recourse


Lined against the mirrored walls
Reflections of pain



Faultless efforts must be achieved
Toe-twirl, toe-twirl
Muscle cramps not relieved
Swing the right leg high, toes pointed
A kaleidoscope of images in a whirl



Dance movements floating
As swans on black mirrors,
Some stand gloating
Others breathless
The pulsation of music rushes rampant
Everything is of one entity
Laced in the air, the smell of fears



Lined against the mirrored walls
Reflections of pain



A high voltage of tension
Awaiting the finest dancer
A statuesque extension
Of silence ensued
Among the sweaty elite
Triumphant tears from the chosen few.

Helen,
What a thought provoking poem,and it is true.
No matter what the discipline or career,being the best will cause pain and tears of joy as well as tears of sadness which result from the painstaking,incessant work.
I love this one.

Ah, here you've done it. A straight forward, as it is, pen to paper description involving the personal aspects of achievement. Extension, apprehension, reflection, determination, all there lining your verse. Any one who dares to dream knows this feeling well. This is excellent poetry.
