Yet Again I Lose

Gleaming thoughts of yesteryear has
dauntingly controlled my days,
never moving forward to possibilities
but encompassing an endless maze.

Waiting and pondering the whims of my
youth and waiting for your return
only to shatter my heart again on
an endless, pathetic yearn.

Planning words of conversation for
a call that will never occur.
Imagining evenings of candlelight
soft music, slow dance and amour.

You promised to give us one more chance
to see what would materialize
and now you tell me there is someone new
Oh why am I so surprised?

Why did you let me back in your life
Allowing me to make all the moves?
Fooling myself yet one more time,
and yet again I lose.

I never learn, hopeless romantic I am
and I will wait until we get it right.
Pursue your dream my darling one
while I caress my lonely night.

Me too, Mary. Guilty as charged. Thank you for sharing your sentiments. Love and best wishes,

Perhaps you have given him more chances to come back than he needs it. Perhaps it is time for you to go out and find someone new also and have fun.

A thought-provoking pieace that tells a story.
