Who likes to think his earthly life will end?
Not me, although I’ve passed age seventy-one.
Far too many fields to me still beckon;
To view, learn, write about things uncertain.
But
When I’m placed in side an earthen coffin,
Know:
One scent in life for me has had its fill.
The
Nicest flow’r I’ve known my days to brighten,
Is
The maid I’ve loved this life and always will.
