Reflect

by Lloydene F Hill — Read all 32 poems by Lloydene F Hill

A thoughtful moment after a car accident in 1989.

Friday, February 9, 2007

Save the glory, save the pain, reflect on your life and make a change that lasts, before you, or someone else is forced to reflect the past.

Twisted metal, broken glass, an explosive force that batters and rips the flesh, a split second thought of how'd I get in this mess.

Pictures flashed through my head just before the crash, then concious thought engages, I'm still alive and in pain, but I won't be the same.

Minor scars will linger, best to thank God I'm still whole, why, when my truck is so mangled, was I spared, it's something I'll probably never know.

So many others never recover, are severely changed, many others just don't remember, but no one ever stays the same.

God grants some a second chance to continue to hear life's music and dance life's dance, but others aren't as lucky, and I tell myself I'm glad I have this chance.

No seatbelt, so stupid, the other driver a few beers, it happens in a New York second the worst of my family's fears.

Already one loved deeply perished by car long ago, now another one tempts, but somehow escapes, fate's ultimate soul shattering blow.

Take heed of this warning, you who are viewing these words, and reflect on your life to make changes that last, or one day you may be forced to reflect a life that has passed.

It is always a wise glowing day in this DEN, no matter the subject dealt.

I enjoyed the contents, the art and the lesson in "Reflect".

In gratitude,
