With so many talking about love...out there most be an awful quantity of souls in love talking a language that for a few of us is a lingo from another planet, so, here's the challenge: tell me about love...

Poem Artwork

Is being in love possessing a magic dress?
which make them that invisible to us all,
that never had and never will, that feeling,
of be wanted experience in our little world.

Is being in love to be full of exhilaration?
life’s excitement, a promise of much more,
crimson hearts like no roses will ever be,
only tenderness of a flower without a thorn.

Is being in love just to care for that only one?
your enfolding arms trying to cover your love
that is trembling against your waiting chest
so filled for that one with so much warmth.

Is being in love and losing it much better
than never had loved or being loved at all?
or that is something they are saying to us
to go away in peace, back to our little world?

Is being in love something you can tell me?
you, fortunate that can put it in many words,
and whisper them to the chosen tender one,
but how can you explain love, to a few of us?

To quote a wise someone... love isn't love 'til you give it away... to possess love you must give it, but all too often those who give love the most are scathed in the process and then left to rot in the sun.

So... maybe true love is receiving the gift and being able to trust the one who gave the gift of love... completely and wholly without fear.

In the Christian sense God is Love. That is the finest love in this world and beyond. Just learned this recently in recent months and won't ever forget it. Agape love is love between friends and is still love of a different kind. But remember God is love.

I'm not sure if this is a rhetorical question, but I will share my two cents. Each of us has at one time or another known love because when it's gone, we feel empty. Sometimes I feel empty of God's love, but that is my problem not His. To explain love is like trying to explain the wind - you only see its manifestation but not the wind, itself.

Perhaps, I will try to write a poem about what 'love is.'

God bless you. Con carino, Kathy

...and how does one define or explain love...to find it in poetic verse...and perhaps...written many times in many words. And yet to know love is something not felt within the pages of a dictionary...undefined.
well done Georg...

La Belle Rouge came the nearest to what I would have to say! I would add it is a common bond that permeates all! Because this such a beautiful poem, and asks a most mysterious question, let us answer it as time reveal more insights. A wonderful expression in poetry!

My dear friend Georg, love to me is something I've searched for my entire life but never found until now.
After a lifetime of lies...deceit, cunning conniving people saying one thing for the world to see but the truth is so far away from them it'd make cow dung smell bad when fully revealed.
Love is far more than a physical thing, when lover’s caress in the moonlight and so on.
Love to me is finding that one who is true. The heart that has no vengeful thoughts no leaving all the bills for the woman to pay and the children to starve.
Love is standing by someone who is worth standing by. His word is truth, he would literally lay down his life for you and you would do the same for him.
He is not perfect yet he is everything, he’s your morning, noon and night simply because the trust, communication and respect has been established and nothing can take it away!God Bless, love Holly

So many questions Georg, let me tell you, We all know when we have real love, when our hearts beat so fast, the world can hear it, when two are willing to do whatever it takes to please one another, when two can respect and communicate with trust and honesty, when it's there and you don't want to ever part with it. When you feel your world is now complete. Unfortunately only you can tell when you have it, no one can tell you. Thank you Georg, great write and wonderful questions.

Georg...I once hear a brokenhearted person say
Whoever defined love forgot fickle feelings
However Love's defined forces false fidelity
Excellent question unfortunately there is no way to
Explain that special feeling

Love is that feeling you feel when you feel you get a feeling you never felt before!!

Bloody nice feeling that is so nice it hurts the chambers of your heart running through those chambers playing hide and seek with your emotions!!

Excellant questions and there is no real way to explain love to someone who has never experienced it. I am not talking love of parents, children, friends etc but the love that grabs you like a bad ass flu when you meet someone who connects sometimes without saying a word. Is it worth it? Yes it is what makes life worht living.

Beautiful poem Georg. There are so many forms of love but real love, be it between friends or lovers is a strong bond in which you can be admired, appreciated, taken into the very soul of another. You can be and let them be exactly who you and they are without fear of rejection or betrayal. It is each seeking the highest good of the other with mutual adoration and respect. To me this is love and this kind of love is most rare and precious beyond compare.
