A true friend is a rare breed of person with a whole lot of courage. He/she will risk friendship for honesty.
There is a difference Between an ordinary friend And a true friend The ordinary friend will tell you What you want to hear The true friend will tell you truths You need to hear Words from the ordinary friend Will boost your ego Words from the true friend Will sometimes hurt the ego For the words are indeed the truths You need to hear, but don’t want to accept Yes, a true friend will risk Friendship for honesty For their intent is not based on Deceit, jealousy, or maliciousness But on genuine love and desire To be the best friend you can ever have Telling you truths you need to know! Being a true friend Takes a whole lot of courage! Consider yourself blessed If you can count your true friends On one hand! “Iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend…” (Proverbs 27:17KJV) “A friend loveth at all times…” (Proverbs 27:17KJV) “…and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother…” (Proverbs 18:24bKJV)

It takes a big person to be a true friend, and even a bigger person to hear the truth and still consider that friend a true friend! Great write, full of wisdom!

I would imagine that all friends start out ordinary, and after a bond of trust, and consistency, has been established, the trueness of what develops depends on how it's nurtured.

Finding a "true" friend in this life is a miracle.
