As we get older, we think, I am now saying, I remeber, when I?????

I see the youth in my granddaughter’s eyes

I see the reflection of my father as he

looked at her

Now, in the years I have became older

lines on my face, gravity pulling the length

of once playful youth dancing upon our skin

Now, I can say, back when

I didn’t know what computers were

I barely knew what of a t.v.

A car was gold, a house a home

of love, corrections and warmth

Respecting your elders was first

manner of teaching, right along with

saying your blessing, not only on a holiday

Yes, Now I can say,,back when

guitars and man stood hand~n~hand

not jumping off into no-man’s land

screaming his head off,

When a doctor could be called upon

no matter the time, all he said

was I’ll be right there

As, I look into my granddaughter’s eyes

I see the reflection of my father as he

looked at her,

even though he is gone, he still lives

because now I can say, I remember back

when,

Oh yes. refections of a bygone era.. But as all times, this -2006- will be a bygone era..

Or as a cynic may write..

The fingers feel the lines - they prod the space -

Your ageing face - the face that once was so beautiful,

Is still there but unrecognizable...

Or maybe I'm the cynic from the neverworld lol...

Giving Myself 'A' Reason For Going On by RickthePoetWarrior

A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
