A painting hanging
So still, almost coming to life
staring at world
not aware of it’s surrounds
Is it laughing r’ does it wish to hold
Out a hand to comfort
Even though it not understands
I want to talk to it
To tell it
How lucky she is to be
A painting
A smile can be put there
On her lips, in her eyes
No one can hurt her
Not in the way a human can
Men admire her, just for the way she is
Women are jealous for the beauty she holds
No one wants to change her
A major discussion can she conjure up
Not a word does she need to say
No defense does she need to stand
Yet, she might have a name
The only family you have
Is the one who hung you on the wall
A painting hanging there
Is what I sometimes
Wish I could be
Displayed for the pride of owning me
You might not even know who painted me
But you can't keep your eyes off
for the beauty I hold
Drawing you so near
I can be touched, though I do not feel
My flaws brought out, for there would be no care
Even when replaced
For a painter made a better one of me
So a painting I’m stored away
In the back of your mind
Still someone discovers me
And hangs me back on the wall
