Yesterday my son signed out of the Marines. 2 Tours I do no reject anything I said here. I pray that there is a Fallujah father who is lucky enpugh to get his son home.

He worries like me About the son who will come home. If he returns at all. The one sent from home with dreams, Or a bitter, broken shadow? Will our sons meet on a soccer field Or a battlefield Or will one turn into the other? He and I never chose This mad maelstrom for our sons. So we pray for each other And our sons. I have had many friends in Iraq, and I have lost a few. I myself was deployed to the region, but before this current war.
It's never easy to see young men and women go to war and worry about the danger they are in, and how they will return. Having a child in war is something I have not yet experienced, so I cannot understand the full pain and fear, but I can imagine the edges of those feelings. This is an insightful view of how the links between the two "sides" are greater than the politics, the battles and even the fearful nights.
