A Song Inspired by Maya Angelou

“Teach Me How To Fly”

I would like to know how a bird keeps his balance in the sky,
It’s the eyes view of how it spreads its wings that makes me wonder.
If I were a bird I could fly away just like the same hummingbird that rests outside my window.
I think I’ve found something, let me explain:
A bird needs a brief moments rest,
so it wants you to believe.
The early morning chirping, the pecking,
its all a display.
As soon as you awake and peek outside the window, that same bird fly’s away doesn’t it?
This is the truth.
The Sky is truly beautiful , we can see, but only the stars, birds and planes truly know.
That bird is talking to you, trying to gain your attention and show you just how beautiful the sky really is.
It just wants to show you.
I always pay attention to the hummingbird outside my window each morning, I never ignore it.
“I see,” smiling at it as it sings so beautifully in my ear.
“Now teach me how to do it…”
“Teach me how to fly,” I asked.
“I want to know what you and the other birds know.”
“Teach me how to fly.”
