WHERE ARE THE DAYS WHEN THE GOOD GUYS WON
WORE WHITE HATS AND HAD SILVER BULLETS FOR THEIR GUN

HEROS LOOKED UP TO BY EVERY BOY
NAMES LIKE HOPPY...DUKE... GENE...AND ROY

EACH HAD A PARD ...A FUNNY BEST FRIEND
IN ANY TROUBLE THEY COULD DEPEND

FIRST ON THE BIG SCREEN THEN TV EVERY SATERDAY MORN
OVER OUR PAJAMAS OUR TOY GUNS WERE WORN

CHAMPION...TRIGGER...SILVER... THEIR GALLANT STEEDS
FOR US BROOM STICK HORSES  FILLED OUR NEEDS

SCHOOL MARMS THEY NEVER KISSED
VILLIANS IN BLACK HATS WE LOULDLY  HISSED

EACH HAD A CEREAL WE WANTED THE MOST
MOM SERVED US WITH MILK AND TOAST

THEIR MOVIES ALL ENDED... THEM RIDING INTO THE SUN
WHERE ARE THE DAYS WHEN THE GOOD GUYS WON

Ronald, this nostalgic look back really touched me deeply. I so miss those days too. I watched Broken Trail twice and look for those old westerns whenever I can. I so hate the violence.sex bad language of today. There seems to be no winners either, just as your poem asks. I almost get the feeling that we are all losers in this present culture!

Hi-ho...giddy up!!! There was Roy Rogers and Dean Evans...Cisco Kidd and Gene...Sky King even was considered a siper gero by me. I recall Saturdays as though they were here yesterday. Saturdays were good fun instead of cartoon characters who slime everyone and pick their noses. Those were the days. I sat in front of the TV with aluminum foil on the antennaes and snow all over the screen...and with a towel safety-pinned around my neck I woudn't move...awesome great memories brought to life again because of the memory nudge your poem gave me this morning.
