I hold close to me the flame we lit
As all those years passed apart
As the winds of life did blow
My love became like glass wrapped round it
And I carefully protected the sacred glow
Though we’ve set ourselves free to wander
I know that the light of our love
It was far too dear to squander
Lost in a world of shadowy darkness
I’ve lost my way, lost my senses
Been hollowed by the starkness
Still the light of what once was dances bright
Illuminating dreams and remembering
That such a beautiful prize is worth the fight
So do not begrudge me this old flame
With it I remember what it can be to fully love
Tenderly, peacefully, and passionately untame
PS I have been reading all of your posts, they are wonderful, I don't know how I have missed you in the reals, better late than never.
