The law is always preoccupied about its depth and breadth,
But recently it is its length that scares us half to death.
A jury that for sake of fairness a court of law sequesters
Ought to time its civic duty by weeks and not semesters.
There are so many mundane tasks that it takes to bring a suit
That very often the time required makes the issue moot,
Upon which cause the whole damn case found its way to court.
So just in case you're wondering? Our system comes up short!
Put all the cookbook pleadings into a computer. Add a tiny modem,
Send them electronically instead of requiring lawyers to tote 'em
To court in person. Modernize. Make the profession a little rad.
There's no purpose in forcing Justice to carry a yellow pad.
Loosen up the legal system, but at the same time keep it tough,
"Kill all lawyers" wrote the Bard who was then finding it rough
To settle a legal matter. His proposed remedy downright drastic,
But legal inflexibility must be made just a little elastic.
Speed up the process. Computerize. Take off the system the onus
Of having to comply with so many rituals, the resultant bonus
Will be a judicial expedient blasting through a procedural thicket.
What we need to speed our justice system is an expedience ticket.
There is a second problem and one that we must solve.
The doors of Justice very often are merely there to revolve.
The jury chosen to effect our justice (the process we all hail)
Is often locked up longer than the guilty, who seldom go to jail.

Thought provoking write, Frank. Too often the accused only gets a slap on the wrists or very little jail time. That only makes him do the same thing when he gets out , knowing they'll go easy on him. Our justice system needs and overhaul.
Many blessings,
