The Dawn Will Come

Days seem so dark, times so hard, hope feels lost, but surely the dawn will come.
Soul feels sad, heart feels broken, desertion replaces security, but surely the dawn will come.
Fear covers the body, shame makes it hard to hold your head up, worry grows inside, but surely the dawn will come.
What keeps a person waking up each day? What keeps a person from taking his or her own life?
Could it be that one hopes that the dawn will come?
What makes a person continue to try when everything he or she touches turns to disaster?
Even in the darkness, what makes a person continue to hope?
Even when a person feels abandon, what keeps that person holding on?
Surely the dawn will come.
Songwriters say He will see you through. They sing that He will be all you need. But even His help feels so far away.
Evangelists say He will make a way out of no way. That He is in control. They pray fervently, telling us that the dawn will come.
Yet those prayers seem not to be heard.
Prophets predict that your breakthrough is coming, that your days of depletion will soon be over. Yet soon never comes.
So what do you do? Why hang in there?
Because deep within your heart, or in the back of your mind, you just know the dawn will come.
Peace momentarily, the dawn will come
Hope temporarily, the dawn will come.
His love so special, the dawn will come.
In these things you know the dawn will come.
