my children gave me a challenge one day to write a halloween poem and this is what developed.
halloween is a fun time
there are monsters full of slime
pumpkins carved with scary faces
candy being bought by cases
costumes thought of carefully
like withches, ghosts and bumblebees
light up sticks to lead the way
kids are hoping that the day
goes by fast and turns to night
before they get a scary fright
filling yards with decorations
for this special celebration
skeleton bones rattle and shake
as spirits begin to awake
coffin doors are creeping open
so zombies can come creeping in
dracula and frankenstein
walk around and try to find
some monster fun before they leave
waiting for next halloween
HALLOWEEN TIME captures well the fun and spooky thrills of the holiday. Makes one seriously consider--maybe--putting on a costume this year:-)
