Tonight we talked as if there would be no tomorrow
Our energy stricken by the world’s sorrow
To raise children on this earth where there is supposed to be peace
Brings a kind of sadness to me - a strange kind of grief
As long as we go our separate ways each morning
We realize that there may not be any forewarning
We consider that our moments could be our last
Anything could happen, and it could happen fast
There’s no telling when our last good-bye even could be
I look forward to my night’s return, my children I’ll see
It’s a matter of fact, now, since there is a war
To live the best we can each day - hoping the days will be more
If you & I should separate for some unknown reason
And you are fortunate to have hold of our children
You know, my spirit will always be with you
Remind them of my love for all of you, too.
