When dark chaos overcomes me,
tearing deeply to open my breast,
then He caresses my weak soul,
and peace overflows me,
like a river in the flood
washing away the debris,
the overwhelming frustrations
of black entangling clutter.
And when the flood subsides,
the channel cleared revealed,
great springs of purest water
well up from the depths
of the whirling spirit,
and there is joy overwhelming,
like lightning over the tumult
that bids the beast decease.
Creation released abundantly,
the happiness is rushing
In bountiful streams within,
of safety and security,
the deep water’s great
and caring Friend.

A key to faith healing lies in the measure of belief of the sufferer. Oftentimes, the degree of change is directly proportionate to the faith and confidence of the sufferer, a scenario we see played out in the tents of traveling evangelists who are wont to elicit a prehealing profession with the query, "Do you believe?" Unfortunately, the crippled "believer" who walks out of the tent unaided by crutches is usually back on his crutches after returning home and left with curative faith dependent on his own volition. Still, bold and sustained faith can move mountains.
If we can't trust in God, whom can we trust? What or where is our healing relief? Faith is a place to begin and often is all one needs. The dark chaos of depression is a terrible affliction. Faith in God's word brings relief to many.
I think some readers will find "When Dark Chaos Overcomes Me" iilluminating while others will find it totally confusing. For me, it stands as unique and provocative.

Sounds like the best of therapy, Jerry. Thank you for sharing your faith. Lovea and peace,

This is beautifully written and makes me feel the depths of despair and the height of joy...
The poem, on another note, made me think it must have been written by someone in the Midwest who had recently been beseiged with flooding, or the fear of flooding. :~) Hope that you missed out on all of that and that everything is fine.

I really like "He caresses my weak soul." Imagery is good. The transition from depression to joy can be brought about by the Spririt with assistance from our own ego personality. We do have a say in it. Your word "black" stands out in contrast to "lightening."
Thank you, Jerry. This poem helps me with what I'm going through now. Peace, Kathy
