I wrote this song for my boys when they were young. But But -- I really found the diamond - "grandchildren"! Ask any grandmother you know! The picture is of my granddaughter with my diamond earring she found. I lost it when I visited for Christmas in 2002. She was so proud and grandma was very happy!

Poem Artwork

Children's Hearts are Mother's Diamonds

 Children's Love is Daddy's Gold

All the Treasures that Life and Offer Were Yours to Have and Hold

The Gift of Life you give them They return when you grow old

Children's Hearts are Mother's Diamonds Children's Love is Daddy's Gold

I believe a part of me Exists in my children's mind Never ending - only changing With time - in perfect rhyme

Hear the children's laughter As they walk through life's corridor First they ponder then they wonder Just what life has in store

Children's Hearts are Mother's Diamonds Children's Love is Daddy's Gold All the Treasures that Life can Offer Were yours to Have and Hold Children's Hearts are Mother's Diamonds Children's Love is Daddy's Gold

See their knowledge covert to wisdom with the memories of yesterday And you hope that in your judgement You've shown them the right way

When your mother's time has come To return to Gods Universe Shed no tears - dear - our attachment Just cannot be reversed

Children's Hearts are Mother's Diamonds Children's Hearts are Daddy's Gold All the Treasures that Life can Offer Were yours to Have and Hold Children's Hearts are Mother's Diamonds Children's Hearts are Daddy's Gold

Karen,
I have only been on this site for a short while, and am still finding my way around. I was looking for a different author when I stumbled on to you. I had to tell you just how good this piece is!! This should be a published song. Sounds like something Celine would sing. I am a mother,/ grandmother, and WOW!! This really touched my soul. Beautiful, ryme, words, everything. I look forward to reading more of your work!!
