The whispering breeze pants on the leaves, and dies upon the trees - Pope
Trees
I feel the living presence of the trees
Stand high beneath the moonlit sky
I see their shapely shadows tall
Across the green where they fall
When the Queen of night is high!
As a shelter for lovers comfort
Nesting birds among their boughs
Branching arms that hold the light
As evening changes to the night
And spreads its shade for me now!
If myself a breathing tree
With a babbling brook nearby
On grassy slopes running steep
Strong roots run long and deep
So I can drink when I am dry!
Before night falls silently
And it spell has lost its power
Before the lush green tableau fades
And the traffics roar invades
A distant clock strikes the hour!
I live among a family of trees and I can truly appreciate your expressive account of these wonderful beings, Beryl. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,
Hi Beryl, I really enjoyed your write on Trees. I love nature and its beauty. How wonderful to be able to look up and see the blue sky and the trees each with its very own personality.

Live imagery and vivid depicting... "Trees" strikes the dynamo of symbolism and creates a learning desire. Knowledge and beauty mingle with art, and a scented poetic flower is delivered.
Beryl,
I have always loved trees--their varying shapes and textures, their beautiful leaves and the colors they turn in autumn--without them we wouldn't even be! This is a beautiful poem--thanks for sharing it.

A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
