I sit and prepare to write the greatest verse ever written
But then I realize that I cannot write such poetry
I write nothing
My person translates what my soul dictates
What my heart feels and what life teaches
I listen to Byrd, Coltrane and Parker
And hear poetry in their music
And the outpour and flow of an artists’ soul
A true artist will touch the reader or listener
In a way that only the arts can
With reality in every word
Note, tune or verse read, spoken or heard
The musician fills you with the sweet sound of music
With a groove to move your soul
One so good you move your feet and snap your fingers
The author captures your imagination
With the use of adjectives and other literary weapons
He transports you to a place you’ve never been before
And make you feel at home with old friends
The poet uses both
With a soulful beat to add emphasis to his words
He combines all the arts to create something beautiful
With the poets flair for words
And insight into the world and self
He paints a picture in your mind
As each descriptive verse puts you in the mind of the poet
And allows you to see life through their eyes
And cure the world with the stroke of a pen…
