This poem was read at an event held in Roswell, NM called the Gospel Explosion, hosted by New Life Apostolic Church.

Better Days

Miles away, yet I sought and found my way to you.
Feeling your pain, and the pain of your children too.
Brought you home, to the place where you belong.
Seen you missed him, and I encouraged you to be strong.
Guessing that you tired of me, because I don’t see you anymore.
Secretly you were talking to him, but only God knows what for.
Listened to your excuses, for all the things that you have done.
Afraid of what will happen, the next time he pulls out his gun.
What happened to the two of us, we use to be good friends.
Confused trying to figure out why you chose this crazy man.
Thinking about the children and what’s going through their heads.
Hoping they don’t fear what I fear, and that’s finding you one day dead.
Knowing what it’s like to lust for love, when love’s no where near.
Sadden I can’t help you, because my advise you do not hear.
Pondering on why you turned your back on me, when all I wanted was to help.
One day soon you’ll figure out, that your only thinking of yourself.
Hurting down inside, because of the person you’ve become.
Looking at someone so smart, and at the same time so very dumb.
Feelings that keep changing from anger to deep sorrow.
Praying that I’ll wake up and we’ll have better days tomorrow.
