*In the cold early morning* *as all others stirred in* *the last moments of sleep* *I walked through the cold air* *chilled dew moistening my feet* *could not stop until I came* *to the point of no return* *where she waited on a bench* *patiently painting her lips* *smiled at me and drew me in* *into her arms I folded* *down on my knees* *head tilted to one side* *as the heat from her* *painted roses pricked me* *with ivory thorns* *and I burn,* *burn before dawn.*
