It's a hairy
November
that sings in
falsetto
the first few bars
of this desolated street
high pitched variety
of costly libations
jump out of
the woodwork
with some help
from the wind
the swaying light
from a desperate
lamppost
slices a parked car
in half
as my shadow
stumbles on
what remains
of this night
pierced by
a hail of
mechanical insults.

Richard, your work is interesting, with an acute sense of detail and language that tells a story. I did find it hard at times to follow the thought process, but, like most of the other comtemporary poets out there, sometimes what we think is very clear to the writer becomes cloudy and confusing to the reader. Nevertheless, a nice write on this and many of your other works.
Deputy Dave Jenkins investigates the murder of local high school principal, Jerry Egge, but this is a multi-faceted novel that deals with spiritualism, romance, friendship, and children who fall through the cracks.
