50 miles beyond 50 years

...I have been taking this journey for a while now, with wonderment and excitement, but not knowing why.

Fifty years in 50 miles

Driving  the  crowded and noisy Highway
that takes me through and passed
the crazy cities, where all of the
traumatic events of my life have occurred.

I have been escaping from these places
on weekends for a few months now
and running from them much longer.
As I moved along, I began counting the places
I have lived with a painful endurance.

Anticipating the exit that will take me to
the next Highway.  The rural one, that in twenty
awesome miles, leads me to a beautiful 30 mile
drive up the west coast, to a place that
I have come to think of as Paradise.

As I turn onto the Highway to Heaven
I count two more places that I had endured.
I looked at the odometer and it read exactly 50 miles.
It suddenly dawned on me, I have lived in a
fifty mile radius for most of my fifty years.

I drove that next 50 miles to my paradise
with a calm feeling.  Arriving at my destination,
I realize that I have entered the next phase
of my life and… I have done it with peace,
serenity and beauty. I have moved past
the painful events of my fifty years,
with an anticipation of new adventures
to come in the next 50 miles.

It sounds like you have gathered a mystery and a very good solution together; you point out the confinement and you discovered a wonderful break to it. I think we need that place you've found, all of us. I have had those places and they change, at times to other places, but I keep one handy. Thanks for the read, Carin. Enjoy creating, always....

Places of the heart bear closer examination, because objects in the mirror are closer than they may appear! May your map of the human heart always bear up under whatever scrutiny you decide to use upon it, and I look forward to meeting you at the end of that Highway to Heaven, or sometime before should events fall out that way. Until then, may God`s peace and love be with you now and forever.

Wonderous insight and poetry :)! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. We all live 'closer than we think' to some form of paradise but often, way too often, our eyes are blind or our sunglasses to dark to see it.

Keep up this great work, Carin'.

God loves you and so do I,
Sandy

Thanks for sharing your journey and your realisation that all the trials and tribulations are now firmly in the past. Hopefully you know how to ride that roller coaster now and that from now on things will be more peaceful and happy. I empathise and hope to find that "happy" place also. Take care.

What a wonderful and personal insight. Sometimes we are advised not to visit that 'rear-view mirror, but in truth, if we did not, how much appreciation for the bright future would be lost? Great work!
