FIRST, BEFORE I START LET ME SAY, I AGREE WITH THE 'GIST' OF THIS SHARING, THOUGH I AM LOOKING AT IT FROM A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ASPECT. SECONDLY, JADA DOES NOT HAVE A TERMINAL ILLNESS. ALOPECIA IS A CONDITION BY WHICH ONE LOSES THEIR HAIR, IN A GROSS FASHION ALMOST OVERNIGHT; ONE DAY IT'S HERE THE NEXT DAY IT'S GONE. IT IS A CONDITION THAT MEN ADJUST TO BETTER THAN WOMEN, FOR OBVIOUS REASONS AND OF COURSE, CAN BE VERY DEVESTATING EMOTIONALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY AND PHYSICALLY. SO, WITHOUT QUESTION, HER ON-LINE POSTS EXPRESSING HER CONCERNS AND FEELINGS ABOUT HER CONDITION WAS KNOWN BY EVERYONE...INCLUDING CHRIS ROCK. THIS SAID, I AM SURE HE COULD HAVE FOUND ANY OTHER SUBJECT TO GET A LAUGH ABOUT, I MEAN REALLY. NOW GETTING BACK TO WILL...I LOOK UPON WILL AS A YOUNG MAN WHO MADE A BIG MISTAKE. A MISTAKE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF HE HAD TAKEN THE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT. BUT HE, LIKE ALL OF US, IS HUMAN. AND IN THAT MOMENT HE REACTED TO THE VERBAL ATTACK WHICH WAS MEANT TO BE FUNNY AT JADA'S EXPENSE. GOOD NATUREDLY, SHE LAUGHED BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE CLIP OF THAT MOMENT, IT WAS HER IMMEDIATE FOLLOW-UP EXPRESSION...THAT SHOWED HER TRUE FEELINGS AND THAT'S WHAT WILL SAW AND REACTED TO. HAD WILL THOUGHT, HE WOULD HAVE WAITED AND MADE IT HIS BUSINESS TO APPROACH CHRIS AFTER THE SHOW TO PRIVATELY LET HIM KNOW VERBALLY HOW HE FELT. BUT I GUESS IN HIS ANGER, HE FELT; IF THIS MAN ATTACKED MY WIFE PUBLICLY, I CAN DEFEND MY WIFE PUBLICLY AND HE DID. SO, NO...HE SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE IT, BUT...I UNDERSTAND FULLY WHY HE DID IT. CAUGHT OFF-GUARD NOT EXPECTING THE ATTACK, HE REACTED. AND HOW MANY OF US WILL ADMIT TO BEING GUILTY OF DOING THE SAME THING...OF 'LOSING IT' WHEN WE SHOULDN'T HAVE? BUT CAN I TELL YOU WHAT REALLY THREW ME FOR A LOOP? THE GROSS LACK OF 'UNDERSTANDING' THAT HE RECEIVED FROM SOME OF HIS PEERS AND THE PUBLIC. I TELL YOU...PEOPLE ARE SO FICKLE! YOU CAN HAVE DONE SO MANY GOOD THINGS TO BE ADMIRED AND RESPECTED FOR IN YOUR LIFE, BUT WHEN YOU 'TRIP-UP' THE SAME PEOPLE POUNCE ON YOU LIKE THEY NEVER KNEW YOU AND WORSE...LIKE THEY NEVER MADE A 'MISTAKE' IN THEIR LIFE. I THINK THIS SHOWS HOW MUCH WE NEED JESUS IN OUR LIVES. YOU KNOW, HE CAME TO TEACH US...TO FORGIVE AND NOT JUDGE OTHERS. AND THOUGH THIS IS NOT EASY TO DO, ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE HAS DELIBERATELY BEEN HURT...IT IS POSSIBLE. AND I THINK THE EASIEST WAY TO DO IT IS TO TRY AND PUT ONESELF IN ANOTHER PERSON'S SHOES. I DON'T THINK ANY OF US WOULD BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE ANOTHER IF WE ASKED OURSELVES; WHAT IF IT HAD BEEN ME...WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE? IN THAT SAME SITUATION OF TRYING TO DEFEND A LOVED-ONE, IS IT QUITE POSSIBLE THAT I WOULD HAVE REACTED THE SAME WAY? I AM GLAD THAT THEY DIDN'T TAKE HIS OSCAR AWAY AND I AM HOPING THAT, EVENTUALLY, THEY WILL GIVE HIM LESS SUSPENSION TIME...BECAUSE HE DESERVES MERCY!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING. That's what just about Hollywood is. You are only good for a few good movies and then as you age they try to push you out to let some new younger ones in. I doubt if there are any new actors who could pick up where Smith has left off.

I must agree with you, Sandie. As for Will, he's a good man. Chris should do his homework.

That's okay, Alex! That just means they're one member less, but they are suffering a big loss of this one member because Will is a big star. I'm sure a lot of second-rated stars or starlets would love to see Will fall. That is why they are going to full force to criticize him. Hollywood is a conscienceless place to work in. No one is your real friend. When disaster strikes, you will see friends' true faces.

What I will be sad to see is that having his first Oscar may be taken away, other than that the organization will just suffer from one vote less. But knowing Will, he probably will not care if they decide to take back the Oscar that they give him. It will be just an eyesore for bad memory if he keeps that with him in the house.

I honestly have no idea why only Will Smith needs discipline and not Chris Rock since he started the whole thing first by making fun of Jada's bald head. In my opinion, both are at fault.

Thanks, Ron, for agreeing with me! Will Smith has always been a good guy. To think that he could be ruined by this clown face, Chris Rock, is not fair. Will has come a long way to be where he is today. I think you are right - a slap is not a punch. People are so ready to ruin him. Not fair. Everyone should just let it go and move on.

Best supporting actor and best supporting actress? Don't know.

Who slapped who and why? Do know and can't help but know.

I have no respect on either side of the slap, only the knowledge that this is the world that we live in now.

I agree with what you said. And I would add that a slap is not a punch and rarely inflicts any more damage than a sting that lasts only momentarily but gets one's attention that whoever is slapping you is angry with what you said.

Chris Rock is well known for his snide remarks, a part of his appeal as a comic. It was an unfortunate statement.

Will Smith has always been a standup guy, faithful to his wife and children, and a good example in the parts that he plays, started out as a rap singer with a clean rap, into a beloved superstar. I believe we should accept his apology and let everything go as a momentary act of defense and nothing more. No harm done, just words.
