GRAY RAIN

Hello, rain.

You soak the world with your damp, gray haze.

You challenge me to pull something

worthwhile from your hidden hand.

I can see that which I want.

But am I brave enough to take it?

Somewhere on the blue planet, there is summer.

Somewhere, there is snow.

Here today, there is wet, wet, wet!

The minutes tick by as raindrops drum my window.

My coffee is cold.

My attempts to will the Mr. Coffee

to brew a new pot have failed.

The phone startles me.

Daydreams of sunshine do not change the gray.

One of the great-great thing about rain in summer, is that the mosquitos all stay home in bed.

Any color of rain suits me just fine, but I like this color very well indeed. --Charlie

I love the first stanza... the thoughts expressed there really challenged me to try to think of the silver lining in the gray rain. I think that when a gray rain falls it is like the heavens are expressing my gray/blue feelings and crying with me.

You paint a clear picture with your words. I can almost smell that coffee brewing...a night owl's favorite drink! Nicely penned! -Sheila

Boy, do I hate those days when I can't seem to rise above the grayness in my heart. Daydreams of 'sunshine' shatter when reality 'rings' in. Having said that, I'm blessed to have more sunny days than gray ones. Sometimes I've got to make my own sunshine - ice cream always seems to help.

Such a sweet poem. You are very lucky to be getting some rain, everything here is slowly dying....Very well written, descriptive piece...

Be safe,
