BROTHER
We’ve become so far apart
Though the actual miles are few
A thirty minute drive
A phone call is a regular charge
What has happened to us?
I remember that old wagon
Our time machine, race car, and rocket
I recall chasing crayfish in creeks
And dragonflies on the lake
Do you think of such things?
Yes we grew up
And we are different in many ways
But still we are brothers
Can’t remember the last time I saw you
Why do we let this occur?
Yes we are both busy
Time is a weak excuse
This is not your fault, nor mine
We must share this blame
Does this distance bother you?
I’m sure we’ll catch up
At the next family gathering
An easy and sociable exchange
What I want to say to you
Brother
Is that…
I miss you.
