I often sit and daydream about
how I want my future to be.
Wouldn't it be nice
if life were more like a soap opera?
I would have a wonderful house
with a fragrant garden. A romantic man sharing my love,
my thoughts, anticipating my needs.
We would have tea on the lawn under the willow tree.
Just sitting on a red checkered blanket.
His head in my lap, my fingers caressing his hair.
Our straw basket filled with food and drink.
We would share some cold baked chicken,
strawberries, chocolate,
and a glass of wine,
just him and I.
Under the blue lit sky.

And then, he would sleep with your sister, run off with your best friend, get malaria in the Amazon jungle, have a sex change, come back as your boss at the hotel where you barely scrape by a meager salary because you would be blacklisted at all the other jobs you held because you married his brother while he was missing in the wilderness and you had no way to pay your mortgage and exterminate the ants that ate the picnic basket food...
